1. login to DirectNIC account
2. Select Manage Hosting
3. Select BCG in the list of hosted domains (only one as of 3 Jan 17)

Note:
Addon domain allows visitors to reach a subdomain of your site by typing the addon domain's URL into a browser. This means that you can host additional domains from your account, if allowed by your hosting provider. Addon Domains Subdomains are relative to your account's home directory. The icon signifies your home directory which is /home/jjrochio. This feature must be enabled for your account before you can use it. Addon domains will not function unless the domain name is registered with a valid registrar and configured to point to the correct DNS servers.
Subdomains are URLs for different sections of your website. They use your main domain name and a prefix. For example, if your domain is bahamascruisersguide.com a sub-domain of your domain might be support.bahamascruisersguide.com.
Subdomains are relative to your account's home directory. The icon signifies your home directory which is /home/jjrochio.

Help Chat 3 Jan 17
you: Happy New Year, John. I bought a new domain and added it to my hosting plan; however now I cannot publish any of my websites to the hosting system. A uid & pw issue.
John S.: |
One moment while I take a look at your account
|
you:
the hosting plan is under
bahamascruisersguide.com
|
John S.:
How are you attempting to publish your site? FTP or file manager or something like dreamweaver?
you:
I use RapidWeaver and it uses FTP. The uid and pw I have used in the past to publsh is the same as those for my directnic account. However then no longer work.
|
John S.:
What error are you getting if any?
|
you:
"Your sign-in details are incorrect, please reenter them and try again."
|
John S.:
Let me check and make sure there are no blocks on your IP
|
you:
OK
|
John S.:
Please attempt to publish your site one more time.
you:
The problem started after I purchased the new domain and then added it as a new add-on domain
|
you:
Error message from Rapidweaver : login denied
|
John S.:
The new domain is |
thepopularloser.com
?
you:
yes
|
John S.:
What are you using for your username?
|
you:
jjrochio
|
you:
attempts to publish to any of my existing sites also fail
|
John S.:
For troubleshooting purposes can you attempt to login to your hosting console here:
https://web128.dnchosting.com:2083
|
John S.:
Were you able to complete that step Joe?
|
you:
No. When I used my jjrochio UID and main pw
|
John S.:
You may be using the wrong password. Your Directnic account username and your Hosting Console/FTP username are the same but the password is likely different.
|
John S.:
You can update your FTP/Hosting Console password here: |
https://directnic.com/my/services/edit/2539
|
you:
will do that now
|
you:
That brought me to the pro hosting plan page. What next.
|
John S.:
In the account information box on the right click Reset Password
|
you:
reset
|
John S.:
And attempt to login here again: |
https://web128.dnchosting.com:2083
|
you:
OK, that got me to cpanel
|
John S.:
Ok, we have verified you are not blocked and can log in as long as the correct credentials are being used.
|
John S.:
Try that new password in rapidweaver now
|
you:
trying
|
you:
OK it worked. Please confirm: all 5 of the websites being hosted use the same UID and then new PW for publishing?
|
John S.:
You can publish to all sites being hosted on your pro hosting plan using the same username and password.
|
you:
Could they have individualized UID and PW???
|
John S.:
They can and currently do.
|
John S.:
These are FTP accounts and are visible in your Hosting Console in the Files section
|
you:
So if I change the PW for a website there, I can publish to it with main UID/PW and the site's UID/PW???
|
John S.:
Yes, you can publish with either login information
|
John S.:
When using the main user and password you will need to specify the publish directory
|
you:
Great. Another question: Pro hosting plan says it can have 15 hosted plans. Im a bit confused about difference between hosted, add-on, and subdomains.
|
John S.:
hosted and addon domains basically mean the same thing.
|
John S.:
subdomains are the prefix that come before the domain name, such as |
shop.thepopularloser.com
|
you:
I noticed when I created the new addon domain a new subdomain was also created
|
John S.:
correct. When adding a new domain a subdomain is created for the new domain.primary domain (in this case it created |
thepopularloser.bahamascruisersguide.com
|
Help Chat 4Jan17
you: |
I purchased a new domain and added it as an add-on domain to my pro hosting plan under
bahamascruisersguide.com
. Yesterday I uploaded a site prototype and checked via cPanel File Manager that the files got where they were supposed to go. However, attempts to access the site at
www.thepopularloser.com
results in the DirectNIC notice that the site is under construction. What have I missed / failed to do?
|
David:
Alright, I will be glad to have a look at your domain to see what may be causing our Under Construction page to still appear. One moment please.
|
you:
thanks, David
|
David:
OK, I see the issue. You properly added the site to the hosting plan, but you have not yet pointed the domain name to our hosting servers. You can do so from this page:
|
https://directnic.com/my/services/edit/1804572
scroll to the bottom and in the Details section, click the Edit link next to the Nameservers.
|
David:
Then in the pop up window, select Hosting Default from the name server profile drop down menu and click the Submit button to save.
|
David:
Keep in mind that the name server changes will take 24-48 hours to take effect.
|
you:
OK I will try that.
|
David:
Yes, once you do that, you should see your site resolve within 48 hours of the change as the DNS propagates.
|
David:
Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
|
you:
I guess I'm dense but the link takes me to the cPanel and I can't find the link you cite...
|
David:
|
https://directnic.com/my/services/edit/1804572
|
David:
that should be your domain management page.
|
David:
And if you scroll down, there is a Details box.
|
David:
Do you see that? or something else?
|
you:
I
|
you:
Ive got details box for the hosting domain
|
David:
that should be for |
thepopularloser.com
|
David:
and in the Details box, you should see the current name servers (ns0 and |
ns1.directnic.com
).
David:
Click the Edit link next to those name servers.
|
David:
then in the pop up window, from the name server profile drop down menu, select Hosting Default and click the Submit button to save
|
you:
OK, I found it and set to hosting default. Thanks. I've done this operation several times in the past but the process remains a challenge not at all intuitive. Perhaps a note when a new domain is added to hosting plan
|
David:
I understand. I will send a note to our development team to see if they may be able to do something like that.
